I was with a visiting friend at a local art gallery so she could look at newer works from the same artist she had bought works of while in Prague five years ago. The gallery had a pretty extensive selection - some of which I liked and some of which I didn't.
My definition of art is really a negative definition: "If I could have done it, it's not art". That's because I know that I have absolutely no artistic ability whatsoever. I saw quite a bit of "not art" when my friend, Barbara, was here in March and we visited the national gallery. Out of the five floors of exhibits only about 1% of the items I really liked, 20% of so were "feh" and 79% were, in my opinion, not art because I could have done them. I'm sorry, but a big white canvas with a blue dot in the middle is not art because I could do it. Anything that approximates an animate or inanimate object is, in fact, art because I can't do anything more involved than stick figures.
Anyway, this painting was hanging on the wall and to me it sure looks like Obama and Hillary as birds, or maybe chickens. I don't know if that was the intent of the artist and if it was what kind of political statement is being made.
Action! Reaction?
